The previous major version of Rivet will no longer receive updates.

Jan 15, 2024

On December 29, Rivet 1 reached end of life and will no longer receive updates.

If you have any websites or web applications still using Rivet 1 assets, please migrate them to Rivet 2 as soon as you’re able. A migration guide is available at v1.rivet.iu.edu.

There is no deadline by which your site or application must be migrated to Rivet 2. However, as Rivet 1 will no longer receive critical security or accessibility updates, it is important to migrate to Rivet 2 as soon as possible.

Deprecation of rivet-uits npm package #

The rivet-uits npm package is now officially deprecated. You can still install the package, but doing so will show a deprecation warning.

Archiving of source code #

Branches related to Rivet 1 have been removed from the rivet-source GitHub repository.

A read-only archive of the Rivet 1 source code has been created on GitHub should you need to reference it.

Hosted assets #

All versions of Rivet 1 through 1.8.3 will continue to be hosted indefinitely at their current URLs on assets.uits.iu.edu.

Questions #

If you have questions about the retirement of Rivet 1, head over to the Rivet Slack channels for the IU Web Community of Practice or UITS.

You can also send a message using the Rivet support request form.
