On Friday, December 29, 2023, the previous major version of Rivet (1.x) will reach its end of life.

If you have any websites or web applications still using Rivet 1.x assets, please migrate them to Rivet 2 at your earliest convenience. A migration guide is available at v1.rivet.iu.edu.

What happens on December 29? #

Will my Rivet 1 site stop working? #

No—your site will continue to work.

All versions of Rivet 1 through 1.8.3 will continue to be hosted indefinitely at their current URLs on assets.uits.iu.edu.

Likewise, the rivet-uits npm package will continue to be hosted in the registry, although installing it will show a deprecation warning.

There is no deadline by which your site or application must be migrated to Rivet 2. However, as Rivet 1 will no longer receive critical security or accessibility updates, it is important to migrate to Rivet 2 as soon as possible.

Questions #

If you have questions about the retirement of Rivet 1, head over to the Rivet Slack channels for the IU Web Community of Practice, or UITS.

You can also send a message using the Rivet support request form.
